The inauguration of the dale protective fence, under the project “Living Shoreline: Sustainable Restoration of the Bay of Bengal Coastal Forest and Wetlands in Bangladesh”, initiative took place on 24th May, 2023, at Kolatoli Beach, Cox’s Bazar, in front of Sayeman Beach Resort. The main purpose of this initiative is to manage erosion, salinity, and environmental crises through long-term ecological restoration and protection of dunes and beaches in Cox’s Bazar.
The project is being implemented by the local non-governmental organization Alliance for Cooperation and Legal Aid Bangladesh (ACLAB) and Sagar Seba, under their Coastal Protection Program, which is funded by the US Embassy in Dhaka.
The event marked the inauguration of a naturally grown dune, measuring 150 meters in length, in front of the Sayeman Beach Resort. The dune was surrounded by a safety fence, and several sand-binding plants were planted in the area. The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Cox’s Bazar, Development and Human Resource Management, Md.
